With an area of 13,000 square meters, combining water with a circular structure that seeks to represent the philosophy of oriental medicine, it opens in 2023 the Museum of Chinese Medicine in the city of Chengdu.
The so-called Tianfu Chinese Medicine Museum, was developed by the architecture studio Muda Architects.
The museum “emphasizes the harmony and correspondence between humans and nature, believing that humanity is a component of all nature which is made up of yin and yang in dualism,” the study explains. .
When completed, the main entrance of the Tianfu Chinese Medicine Museum will be located on its west side. Here, perforated aluminum panels on the facade will provide sun protection to help keep the building cool.
On the east facade, facing the lake, a double curvature glass curtain wall will invite nature into the building.
The main public spaces, including the lobby, an auditorium, an interactive exhibition space and the dining room, will be located on the ground floor. The exhibition and workshop spaces will be set up on the first and second floors.
The parking and utilities area will be located under the structure, which will connect to an outdoor plaza to accommodate a variety of activities.
Muda Architects also designed the landscape for the museum, which will be open to the public 24 hours a day, and will feature planted areas of seasonal vegetation to educate visitors.
While the main structure of the Tianfu Chinese Medicine Museum has been completed, the final details of its interior have yet to be finalized, due to open in 2023.
