Dodgers turn down Justin Turner option for 2023

The Dodgers declined Justin Turner’s option for 2023, making the two-time All-Star a free agent.

A veteran and leader of the Dodgers, the 37-year-old third baseman has been with the Los Angeles team since 2014, when he was signed as a free agent after four seasons with the Mets. In eight of Turner’s nine seasons with the Blues, the club won eight NL West titles.

Overall, Turner hit .296/.375/.490 with an OPS+133. But in 2022, largely due to injuries, the third baseman has played in just 128 games.

The Dodgers’ other options for third base are Max Muncy and Miguel Vargas, the team’s No. 3 prospect on the MLB Pipeline roster.
